Tip #1 For A Healthy New Year:  Take A Vacation

According to The Blue Zones of Happiness by Dan Buettner, “People who spend their resources on experiences rather than stuff- taking a family vacation, say, rather than buying a new riding lawn mover – end up making themselves happier”

So, taking a vacation is a great way to spend your money for maximum happiness.  Don’t forget to keep up your healthy habits while on vacation!

Tip #2 For A Healthy New Year: Get Moving

I don’t love the gym, but I like staying active.  Now, with the help of Kathleen at Just Keep It Simple Fitness, you can create your own personalized workout plan!  I love her step by step guide that walks you through how to create the perfect workout plan for YOU.  She emphasizes doing what you enjoy because a workout shouldn’t be a punishment.

For my fellow yoga lovers out there, why not try online yoga classes. These can be done anywhere — at home or away (even when you are traveling and without reliable wifi). Try it now for only $1!

Tip #3 For A Healthy New Year:  Save Your Money

If your finances are out of whack, chances are your mind is feeling out of whack too.  Budgeting and saving money can be intimidating to some people so I love this great idea from Mary at Mission: To Save.  She will show you how saving only pennies can turn into big bucks by the end of the year.  It’s a simple way to make a big impact.

Tip #4 For A Healthy New Year:  Be Present

This is one of the ideas that is going to be big for me in the coming year.  It’s so simple, but so powerful: Be Present.  Whatever you are doing, just be fully there.  I think we often try to balance so many balls in the air that we end up dropping most of them (and we aren’t really paying attention to any of them.)  Shannon from My Life in the Blink reminds us that while we can’t do it all and do it well we can be present in whatever we are doing.

Tip # 5 For A Healthy New Year: Re-Think Your Health

Have you ever felt guilty for eating ice cream or praised yourself for going to the gym?  Yeah, me too.  So often we look at health as good or bad choices – with nothing in between.  Lindsay from Find Where You Fit invites us to re-think health this year.  This is a great read to help you “feel less guilt and let in the happy”!

Tip #6 For A Healthy New Year: Live Intentionally

Living intentionally is one of the main things I am working on from a personal perspective.  I want to focus on the things that matter and change the things that don’t work in my life.  I love Malini’s story about how she is learning to live intentionally – check it out on Lakes and Lattes.

Tip #7 For A Healthy New Year: Get Honest About Your Weight Loss Journey

If you have ever tried to lose weight I bet you can relate to Kim’s story on Wear Love Wanders.  I know I can.  If you have ever struggled with your weight, done the yo yo dieting or just failed to make a plan to lose weight, take a minute to read about her struggle. It’s an honest look at something most of us have dealt with at one time or another.

Tip #8 For A Healthy New Year: Visualize Your Goals

It’s great to have goals for the new year but often we fall short of completing them.  Eryn from 614 Mom shows us how to use vision boards and why they can be so important to achieving our goals.

Tip #9 For A Healthy New Year: Essential Oils

I have lots of friends that swear by essential oils! They can be great additions to your routine to prevent illness and keep you healthy.  If you are brand new to essential oils, check out Liz’s post on Just Breathe It All In.  She takes you through some essential oil basics to get you going.

Tip #10 For Get Rid Of All The Stuff You Don’t Need

A cluttered home can cause a cluttered mind. It’s amazing how getting rid of the excess stuff around you can clear up your mind, not to mention your home. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of stuff over the years and have really started focusing on only bringing things that spark joy into my home. Here’s a fun way to get you started — including my top 3 WTF items!
