Jelly Cafe is a kitschy cool breakfast and lunch spot that serves up a dash of nostalgia along with a killer breakfast. This diner is adorned with old school cereal boxes on the walls, teacup/saucer/spoon chandeliers and the bar is made of scrabble tiles.  Fun!

They offer all the usuals like coffee, tea and hot chocolate. If you are looking for something a little different than your morning coffee, try the hot apple cider.  Or, if you are in the mood for something a little more potent, try a mimosa. They had a Kombucha Mimosa as a special when I was there (it was a coffee kind of morning so I didn’t try it)

Donuts at Jelly Cafe

The first thing you should do when you arrive is order the donuts.  These aren’t your typical donuts.  These are homemade balls of goodness!  They aren’t the super sweet mushy donut holes you can find at other places.  These had some substance.

Order some to munch on while you wait for your food.  In addition to the more traditional jelly filled and cinnamon sugar flavors, they also offer flavors like maple bacon and Thai peanut.

Breakfast at Jelly Cafe

The menu is full of traditional favorites with subtle twists like Lavender Blueberry Pancakes and Corn Flake French Toast.  Be sure to try one of their giant, homemade biscuits too.

The Rustic Potatoes are not your typical breakfast potatoes (which are usually terrible).  These were crispy on the outside, yummy in the middle and topped with sour cream and scallions – breakfast potato skins, anyone? Yes, please!

Jelly Cafe Locations

There are 2 locations in Denver. Be sure to arrive early or plan on waiting a little on the weekends as it can get crowded. For smaller groups there is also seating at the window and bar if you don’t mind sitting on stools.

My Take

If you are looking for a great breakfast in Denver, look no further than Jelly Cafe.  You won’t be disappointed.  And be sure to leave your diet at the door and order the donuts – enjoy!
