TSA PreCheck Adds New Participating Airlines

Good news for those of us who use TSA PreCheck!  They have added 11 new airlines to their list of participants.  The list now includes popular airlines like Avianca, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Spirit, and Sunwing.  TSA PreCheck has a total of  30 airlines who participate in the program!  Don’t forget, many credit cards like American Express Platinum, Citi Prestige and Chase Sapphire Reserve will reimburse your $85 application fee once it’s charged to your card.

Tapestry Collection By Hilton

Hilton Hotels announced its 14th brand,  Tapestry Collection By Hilton  It’s a collection of unique and independent hotels that will now have the reliability and backing of the Hilton brand.

While these hotels are being called “upscale” they will be a step below the “Curio” by Hilton collection. Look for Tapestry Collection hotels starting in fall 2017 in 7 cities — Chicago, Hampton, Va., Indianapolis (2 locations), Nashville, Syracuse and Warren, N.J.  35 additional properties across the U.S are in the works.

Southwest Airlines adds service to Grand Cayman and Cincinnati

Grand Cayman is the newest destination being serviced by Southwest Airlines! Flights from Ft. Lauderdale to Grand Cayman are now available starting June 4, 2017! Strangely, I couldn’t book from my home airport on the same ticket. The flights only showed up when booking Ft. Lauderdale to Grand Cayman.

There’s also good or bad news depending on where you live in Ohio. Starting June 4, Southwest will offer flights out of Cincinnati. It is also suspending service from Dayton and Akron/Canton on June 3.

Hilton 2,000 Points Bonus Promotion

Hilton will launch a new promotion starting February 1, 2017 that will run through April 30, 2017.  You can earn an additional 2,000 points per night at over 4,700 Hilton hotels worldwide. There is no minimum stay and no maximum on how much you can earn.

These bonus points are in addition to the 10 Hilton points per dollar you earn with every stay as well as any other bonus points you earn from elite status or a Hilton branded credit card. While this is a great promotion if you happen to be staying at Hilton properties, I wouldn’t switch hotels if you are already staying somewhere else.

Hilton points aren’t worth as much as some other hotel points — they estimated around .5 cents per point. You need a lot more Hilton points for a free night versus a stay at a Hyatt. So, overall this is a great promotion, but don’t go out of your way to take advantage of it.

Until next time…Happy Travels!
