The Platinum Card from American Express comes with lots of great benefits. One of the most underutilized is the Amex Saks Credit. This $50 credit can be used twice a year, once from January to June and once from July to December for a total of $100 in credit from Saks.

While you may think that you can’t get anything cool at Saks for $50 or under, you’d be wrong. There are lots of great items that you can get using your Amex Platinum Saks Credit!

Here’s a pro tip I learned from experience: don’t try to purchase something and then return it to get the cash. If you do this, American Express WILL claw the money back. It can take a while (sometimes over 6 months), but they will get it back. So, use this Amex Saks Fifth Avenue benefit as a way to buy something fun for yourself. It’s a great opportunity to splurge.

Now, let’s get shopping. Saks Fifth Avenue is known for designer brands, luxury goods, and very high prices. But there’s still plenty you can find for under $50.

This list features 28 items (including some great holiday items) ranging from fashion, beauty, and jewelry to home decor, toys, and travel accessories that can all be purchased with the Amex Saks benefit. Happy Shopping!

How Does The Amex Saks Credit Work?

The Saks Fifth Avenue credit from American Express is easy to use. Once you have your Amex Platinum Card you’ll be eligible for 2 $50 credits at Saks Fifth Avenue per year. You’ll have 1 credit to use from January-June and another to use from July-December.

Once you get your card, go to the Benefits section of your account to enroll your card in the Shop Saks with Platinum benefit program.

Final Thoughts

The American Express Platinum Saks Credit is one of the card’s most fun benefits. It’s broken down into 2 $50 credits, one to use from January-June and another to use July-December. You can use the Amex Saks credit for anything in the store, and this list should give you some fun ideas of what you can buy.

Don’t forget, you can’t buy something to get the credit and then return it. American Express WILL charge you for anything that was returned. So, take this as an opportunity to splurge on a little something fun.

What’s been your favorite thing to purchase with your American Express Saks credit?

Amex Saks Benefit FAQs:

Does the Amex Saks benefit work at Saks Off Fifth? No, you can only use Amex credit at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Can I combine the $50 credits? No, you’ll get 1 $50 credit to use during the 1st half of the year and another to use during the 2nd half of the year. They do not roll over if you don’t use them.

What happens if I return something I bought with my credit? If you return an item you purchased with your Saks American Express Platinum credit, Amex will take the credit back. This can take a long time, sometimes more than 6 months. If you cancel your card in the interim, you’ll get a bill from American Express in the amount of the item you returned.

Can I buy a gift card with my $50 Amex Platinum Saks Fifth Avenue credit?

You can’t buy a gift card online with your $50 Amex Saks credit. There have been people who have had success purchasing gift cards in-store, but proceed with caution — Amex can claw back the $50 credit even after your account is closed if you use the credit in a way they deem inappropriate.

What are the Amex Saks credit dates to remember?

Your American Express Platinum card Saks credit is based on a calendar year, not your card member year. You’ll get a $50 Saks credit to use from January through June and another credit for $50 to use from July to December each year.
