How Much Are Marriott Points Worth?

According to The Points Guy’s monthly valuations, Marriott points are worth about .9 cents per point.  That means this bonus is worth roughly $900.  Once you add in the 7,500 points from adding an authorized user and the 5,000 points from the required spend, you will have 112,500 points that are worth about $1,013.  Not bad from one credit card sign up!

Transfer to Starwood Preferred Guest

Last year, Marriott acquired Starwood Hotels so now you can freely transfer your points between the 2 brands.  The transfer rate for Marriott to Starwood is 3:1, meaning you will get 1 Starwood point for every 3 Marriott points you transfer.  Starwood points are worth close to 2.5 cents per point so the transfer isn’t as lopsided as it seems at first glance.

Great options! We’re more budget travelers and we go with our little kids, so the Edinburgh property would be perfect for us.

sticking with one brand does have it’s advantages. some of these properties are interesting and not what I would expect from Marriott, especially the one in Edinburgh.

I have been s member and fan for years thanks for the update,

I love how you broke down the redemption options! Most times I don’t even know what I’m earning towards. Too bad that I’m off credit cards sign-ups for a while till I finish purchasing a house.

  5. Charles McCool

This is great. I burned almost all of my Marriott points last year, staying in great properties in Berlin, South florida, and Budapest. Perhaps I will sign up for a new credit card and bank another 100K.
